For over 45 years The Book Shop has raised money for local organisations in and around Hampton, South West London. 

Who we support

Local Causes that need a little help.

The shop has always strived to help smaller organisations in and around Hampton who do not have traditional main-stream funding. 

Radio West Middlesex

A volunteer-run radio station at the West Middlesex University Hospital broadcasting 24 hours a day since 1967 and it aims to brighten up the stay of patients, entertain them and provide local information for the community.

The Hygiene Bank

A national grassroots community-based charitable project where people in a community come together to collect toiletry basics.

Richmond Talking Newspaper

Richmond Talking Newspaper provides local news in audio form for people with visual impairment and/or other physical difficulties in the Borough of Richmond.

Baby Basics

Part of the Baby Basics national programme. They collect donations and make up Moses Basket starter packs for mums in need. They provide a Moses basket for the baby to sleep in which is packed full of clothes and toiletries.

Richmond Christmas Lunches

The Christmas Day Dinner is an event for care leavers aged 18-25 to have a Christmas Day together to celebrate and create memories. Last December, almost 60 young people were invited to a stunning location in the heart of Richmond borough to enjoy a scrumptious and magical Christmas Day Dinner. 

Linden Hall

Linden Hall provides activities and services to the local area. The charity is home to The Lindeners Social Club, where members take part in social activities and freshly cooked lunches on Tuesday and Thursday, plus fish & chips from a local shop on Fridays. 

Riding for The Disabled Association (RDA)

Formed in 1954, Raymond Gordon’s vision was to enable young people, who would not otherwise have the opportunity, to learn to look after and ride horses; from early in the charity’s existence this included young people with special needs.

Teddington Memorial

Working to improve patient experience at Teddington Memorial Hospital, by funding enhancements to both services and equipment. Recently funding the refurbishment of the main reception area and the new state of the art, high technology imaging equipment.

The Extra Mile

A charitable outreach run by Hampton Methodist Church. The team receive requests from professionals, including social workers, health professionals and charities (e.g. NSPCC) seeking items of clothing and equipment for local children up to the age of 5 years.

We support causes that impact the local community of Hampton. As we have limited funds we try to focus on smaller organisations where a small donation goes a long way. Distribution of funds is voted on by volunteers throughout the year so please get in touch if you feel we may be able to help.
